People are sometimes intimidated at the idea of commissioning a painting, but it really is the best way to get exactly what you want. It isn't that much more expensive than purchasing ready-made art, and you get something completely original and tailor-made to suit your needs.
STILL-LIFES, FLORALS, FIGURES, & LANDSCAPES
You can commission a painting of a still-life, floral, landscape, or figure-painting. Sometimes it can be difficult to find just the right painting for that empty wall. You can commission a painting in the size, style, and color scheme you need.
PORTRAITS:
A portrait can be done either from life or from photos, or a combination of both, and usually takes one to three months to complete.
After the initial contact with a client, the artist and client will generally meet at the client's home to discuss where the portrait will be placed, and to determine the size and style of portrait desired. Additional details will be discussed, such as pose, clothing, background and lighting. An appointment will be made for the taking of photographs and for completing a gesture drawing (in the case of full-length portraits).
Photographs will be taken with a digital camera, and there will be a laptop on hand for viewing the photos. The artist and client will choose the photo, or photos, that will be used for the painting. Multiple photos can be combined to create the desired composition. Once the artist and client have agreed upon the composition, size and style of the portrait, the painting will be commissioned.
A 30% deposit is required at the time the painting is commissioned, with the balance paid upon completion of the portrait.
